UPDATE: One lane of southbound I-75 has reopened near Elm Avenue after a semi jackknifed in Monroe County on Tuesday morning.

According to The Monroe Evening News, one of the semi's tires exploded after hitting a chunk of metal, causing the truck to hit a retaining wall and rollover into the middle of the highway.

Michigan State Police dispatchers said road crews were still clearing debris from the semi around 1:15 p.m.

The truck driver was reportedly taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

 

ORIGINAL: Southbound I-75 is shutdown in Monroe County due to a jackknifed semi truck.

The Monroe Evening News reports the closure is between Front Street and Elm Avenue. There is no word on injuries at this time.
