UPDATE: The body of the elderly man stolen from a Detroit cemetery has been found in a basement freezer of an eastside Detroit home.

WDIV reports that police found the body Tuesday morning.

Earier a white van that was believed to have been used in the theft was spotted by officers around 7 a.m. Tuesday parked at a gas station. The casket was found in the van but the body was missing. The body was found a short time later.

A 48-year-old man, believed to be the deceased's son, and a 38-year-old man were arrested.

ORIGINAL REPORT: A strange incident at a Detroit cemetery has police baffled.

According to ClickOnDetroit.com, a coffin was stolen from the Gethsemane Cemetery in Detroit before workers had a chance to bury the body.

Police say they believe a purple pick-up and a white van drove out with the coffin on Monday.

Workers at the cemetery had nothing to say about the incident.

Sources inside the Detroit Police Department say the elderly man's casket was awaiting burial.

His service had already happened on Saturday but drenching rains on Sunday delayed the burial.

Police say the van and truck came to the cemetery and took the coffin at gunpoint. Police are calling the deceased man's 47-year-old son is a person of interest.

Police and friends say the son believes he has the power to resurrect his father.

Friends say they're  not surprised the son stole the coffin, they say he "acted out" at the funeral on Saturday.

Police continue to search for the son and the missing body in the casket.
