TOLEDO, OHIO -- Multiple power companies are working around the clock, and calling in reinforcements from neighboring states, to restore electricity to hundreds of thousands of customers left powerless after recent violent storms.

AEP Ohio representatives say the company is continuing on Monday to concentrate on restoring power to the remaining customers affected by the June 29 storms.

The majority of the customers still without power are located in the Athens and Newark service areas, according to the company's news release Monday morning.

As of 10:00 a.m., power has been restored to approximately 650,000 of the customers affected by the late June storms. Approximately 10,000 AEP Ohio customers remain without power. AEP Ohio has restored power to approximately 98 percent of the approximately 660,000 customers affected by the catastrophic storm that moved through the state June 29 and the additional customers who lost power in subsequent storms July 4 and 5. To view current outages by county, view AEP's online outage map.

According to Toledo Edison's website, after Thursday's storm which brought hurricane force wind to the Toledo-area, less than 500 customers remain without power - as of Monday afternoon - in Sylvania, Sylvania Township, Springfield Township, Holland, and the western edge of Toledo. This is down from the over 30,000 customers without power as of Thursday evening.

WNWO's Hubert Wiggins visited with some residents in Holland Monday who are either still without power, or had just regained it.

Full restoration in the Toledo-area is expected to be complete by 11:00 p.m. Monday. For the latest on current outages visit the FirstEnergy Storm Center online.
