MILLBURY, OHIO -- There was silence Thursday in parts of Wood County as officials tested the county-wide severe weather warning siren system, just days after tornadoes tore through the area.
Residents were warned not be alarmed that another tornado was on the way, but silence in some areas may have left some a little concerned.
Tornado sirens were tested Thursday at Noon in order to make sure all sirens were working and unaffected by the recent severe weather, according to Wood County EMA Director Brad Gilbert.
Officials say the sirens act as a warning system to let residents know when to take cover. Yet, the sirens at one Lake Township fire station failed to sound during Thursday's county-wide test. Lake Township Police Chief Mark Hummer says residents should not worry about the failed test. "I guarantee we will have a siren here prior to this weekend."
Police Chief Hummer says Federal representatives have been contacted to fix the sirens by the end of the week.
