UPDATE: Ohio executes man who fatally shot security guard

An Ohio condemned killer is scheduled to be executed today.

Frederick Treesh is sentenced to die for the 1994 shooting death of a security guard following a multi-state crime spree. Authorities say he shot 58-year-old Henry Dupree during a robbery of an adult book store in Eastlake on August 27, 1994. Treesh blames his actions on his cocaine addiction. Prosecutors say the crimes were intentional.

The state parole board voted unanimously against sparing Treesh, and Governor John Kasich denied his request for mercy.

48-year-old Treesh was moved to the state death house at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville on Tuesday morning. He visited with two spiritual advisers and his attorney until about 7:30 p.m. last night.  According to reports, around 30 minutes later, he was served his requested meal of steak with mushrooms, eggs and hash browns, cottage cheese and onion rings, deep-fried mushrooms, a hot fudge sundae and sodas.

He has no appeals pending that could affect his execution today.
