Winter driving skills to be tested Friday

A bit of the calm before the storm today as the winds have finally diminished.  Skies will be mostly cloudy throughout the day with high temps only getting into the mid 20's, more than 10 degrees below normal.

Overnight clouds will lower and thicken with temps dropping into the lower 20's.  By daybreak widespread snow moves in and will continue into the Friday morning drive.  We are right on the rain/snow line but right now it looks like we'll see about two inches of snow by mid morning along the Turnpike and inito metro Toledo - witjh less snow to the south and more to the north corresponding to where we see a more rapid switch over to a wintery mix of precipitation.  South of Findlay will not see much snow with more in the way of rain.  In southeastern Michigan there could be as much as 3-4 inches of snow before the transition to a wintery mix.  By afternoon the entire area will see the wintery mix of freezing rain and sleet change over to light rain as highs climb into the mid 30's.  Allow extra time and space if you have to travel Friday morning.

The weekend looks to be quiet both Saturday and Sunday with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid 30's.
