Near record high temps this afternoon

A warm and juicy flow into the region today.  Dense morning fog will give way to scattered showers and likely another few rounds of isolated thunderstorms.  Highs today will get into the upper 50's and lower 60's.  I'm going for a high of 58 degrees in Toledo - the record high is 62 and was set way back in 1914.  Yes, unseasonable warmth to accompany some of those thunderstorms here in January.

Overnight expect more of the same... widespread, and at times, heavy rain.  Isolated thunderstorms are likely towards dawn with lows in the lower 50's.  We'll be keeping an eye on area creeks, streams and rivers for flooding potential with more heavy rain with thunderstorms Wednesday morning.  During the afternoon a strong cold front will race our way and deliver a sudden change of seasons.  Temps will plunge from the lower 50's into the 30's by the evening hours and any moisture behind the frontal boundary will change over to snow.  Little accumulation is expected with the warm surface temperatures.

Winter is indeed back for Thursday with scattered flurries and snow showers early.  It will be a mostly cloudy afternoon with the mercury not moving much.  Temps will start out in the lower 20's and not get out of the mid 20's for highs during the afternoon - a raw day to be sure.

Friday will offer some sunshine but be cold with lows near 10 degrees and highs near 20.  We cloud up Friday night and will likely see a light but widespread snowmaker Saturday as a weak Alberta Clipper traverses the region.
