TOLEDO -- Toledo police have surveillance video that may have captured the Monday morning murder of Joe Lengel, the owner of the Crossfit Toledo Intensity gym on Warehouse Drive. On Monday police declined to reveal what was on the surveillance video. Police arrived at the gym shortly before 6 a.m. after receiving a 9-1-1 call of a person shot. Lengel was lying on the ground; gym patrons were trying to help him. Lengel was taken to UTMC but he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
On Monday Toledo police were working under the theory that the shooting may have happened during a robbery.
Lengel opened the studio 8 months ago and had attracted a large clientele. The gym's Facebook fan page was flooded with messages of condolences. Joshua wrote: "Joe, you inspired everyone who joined your gym; thanks for your encouragement, for sharing your knowledge and for being a good friend and leader. You will be greatly missed."
