It's a national movement to combat children's cancer...and it's coming to Fremont, Ohio Saturday, October 6th.

Many of the local racers that compete each week at Fremont Speedway will take part in a Kickball game at Roger Young Park starting at 10am...and the public is invited to come out to the game to show their support.

It's part of the larger "Kick-it" campaign, which is part of the Jeff Gordon Foundation and is aimed at raising money to help research and cure all forms of childhood cancer.

To date, the national effort has raised over $1-million...with some 550 games being played.  Fremont's edition hopes to add a significant amount to that total.

Funds raised benefit children's cancer research across the country. Kick-it partners with national medical advisory boards to identify the most promising research studies and projects such as:

- A study of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors at Harvard Medical College; The Children's Tumor Foundation
- Clinical research of the Children's Oncology Group, reaching 90 percent of the children with cancer in the United States

The Cleveland Indians are also a partner in the national campaign.
