The Jamie Farr Toledo Classic is a great opportunity for locals to see the pros play but is also helping a local church give back.

For 22 years, the Sylvania United Church of Christ has allowed golf-goers the option of parking vehicles on their property for 5 bucks.

With a location just across the street from the Highland Meadows Golf Club, the lot is a convenient option for tournament attendees.

Over the years the church has collected enough money, during the event’s 4 days, to help fund Habitat for Humanity projects.

Those with the church say that since 1997 the money collected during the tournament has helped build 13 homes for needy families.

“We're very fortunate to be across from Highland Meadows. It’s worked out well for us,” church member Jeff Crandell said.

The money raised is also used for some of the church's own community projects.
