We admit it, we're homers for Toledo Mud Hens slugger Brad Eldred to get a call-up to the Detroit Tigers.

But why not?

Baseball is a numbers game and Eldred certainly has those:

9* - doubles

13* - home runs

20* - number of games and number of consecutive games he's had a hit

23* - runs scored

31* - hits

35* - runs batted in

81* - total bases

(*denotes categories led in all of International League )

Despite the numbers, Eldred is behind Prince Fielder at first base and Fielder isn't going anywhere.

The solution should be designated hitter. 

The Tigers have struggled at the DH spot in their last five games with a .150 average and 0 RBI's.
