It was opening day over at 5/3 Field in downtown Toledo.  Fans flocked to see the Mud Hens host the Indianapolis Indians in their first game of the 2012 season.  With a record 13,227 people in attendance, the atmosphere was just what the doctor ordered for a pumped up Toledo lineup.

The home team started out hot and never looked back.  In the first inning, Ryan Strieby came to the plate with runners on second and third.  A shot up the middle scored both runners to put Toledo up 2-0 after one.  The Hens came out in the second inning and added to their lead via a solo homerun from Audy Ciriaco that made the score 3-0.

It was still 3-0 in the 6th inning, thanks to some excellent pitching by Toledo starter Adam Wilk(5 IP, 1 Hit, 0 Runs, 6 K's).  The offense came out in the bottom of the 6th and added to the lead thanks to an RBI double by Omir Santos.  The Mud Hens added their final run in the seventh when Jerad Head got a little help from the Indians shortstop, Chase d'Arnaud, who let one get through his legs, which allowed Strieby to score from third.

The Indians did get one run in the ninth to make the final 5-1.  The Hens won their second straight season opener.
