TOLEDO -- The defending MAC champion Toledo Rockets soccer team was back on the field on Saturday for an exhibition contest with Ashland.

Colombian national team head coach Ricardo Rozo was one of those in attendance. Rozo is in Toledo to give a lecture about the development of the sport in his country.

The women's team as only been around a few years, but have already made some noise on the national scene. They were the runner-up of the 2010 South American Championship and competed in last year's World Cup in Germany. This summer they will compete in the Olympics.

"Colombia is new to women's soccer, just three to four years recently, so obivously everytime they make a World Cup the country is very happy and everytime the country is behind the team," said Rozo, through and interpretor.

One of Rozo's national team members also plays for the Rockets. Junior defender Natalia Gaitan was one of the captains on last years World Cup squad.

Rozo will also be hosting youth clinics on Monday evening at the Fetterman Indoor Facility on the campus of UT. From 6-7:30pm,  youngster 14-15 participate and from 7:30-9:30pm ages 16-18. The cost is $30 and only open to the first 35 people. Please call UT Assistant Coach Anne Decker at (419) 530-6251 for registration details.
