The first round of the Mid American Conference tournament tipped off at campus sites on Monday night.

Bowling Green had a couple of opportunities to win in the final 10-seconds but lost 54-53.

Trailing by one with one second left , senior Torian Oglesby missed a contested lay-up on an inbounds play, before putting it through on a second chance at the buzzer.

The referees looked at replays on a television monitor and determined the buzzer sounded before Oglesby got the second shot off, ending the Falcons season and Oglesby's BGSU career.

"You can't ask for a better look," said BG head coach Louis Orr.  "If we had two seconds and not one, we'd have won the game."

"It's hurtful," said senior Dee Brown, who led the Falcons with 20 points in his final game at BG. "As a senior you win or you lose and just go home.  So, I'm pretty hurt right now."

BGSU finishes the season 16-15.

At Savage Arena, the Rockets saw a 16 point lead vanish in the second half but recovered to beat Miami, OH 60-53.

UT saw the Redhawks go on a 20-3 run midway through the second half but outscored Miami 8-1 in the final 5:18, earning a berth in the second-round of the MAC tournament.

"I think it's from losing close games in the past," said sophomore Rian Pearson, who led UT with 21 points and 13 rebounds.  "We had a down time in the middle of the sason and I think we just learned from that."

The Rockets now face Central Michigan in the second round of the MAC tournament in Cleveland, on Wednesday at 9:30 pm.

After the game, long-time Miami coach and former Central Catholic high school coach Charlie Coles, announced his retirement.
