Falcons drop Stroh opener

The BGSU women's basketball team has won the MAC regular season title the last seven years in a row. 

So, when they lost their opener at Dayton by 31 points it was a shock to the program.

Thursday night, the Falcons with a chance to bounce back on a national level, as they hosted 16th-ranked Purdue in the first-ever women's game at the Stroh Center.

The game came down to the last forty seconds with the lead changing hands 3 times.

Trailing by one with less than five seconds left, Danielle Havel's shot went off the back iron and the Falcons fell to 0-2 losing, 54-53.

"We grew up a lot today," said senior guard Jessica Slagle.

"I kind of saw the light at the end of the tunnel today.  It was a lot of positives today.  I can't really come out of here that disappointed."

Duke transfer Alexis Rogers led BG with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

She was the only Falcon to score in double-digits.

Next up, BG hosts Evansville at noon on Sunday.
