FTC toughens online privacy rules for kids

New rules by the Federal Trade Commission will tighten privacy for children online.

The FTC said personal data collected by mobile phone apps, smartphones and tablets will now be much harder to collect.

In addition, parents will have greater control over information websites can collect from kids under 13.  

The rules are revisions to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.
