TOLEDO -- There seems to be drama between Toledo Mayor Mike Bell and City Council, and it doesn't look like its coming to an end anytime soon.

The conflict comes after council rejected the mayors proposed pay raises for top city staff earlier this week. In turn the mayor barred city employees from attending evening meetings held by council.

It's an action that has a lot of members of council scratching their head including City council President Joe McNamara, "the reason to do evening meetings is to allow for citizens to give input, ask questions and a lot of people work 9-5 or different hours."

In a statement from the mayor, he says, "council Tuesday demonstrated that they do not value the staff time these people contribute after working a full day, taking time away from their families and without the overtime pay their peers and subordinates receive. I am not going to subject them to those working conditions ..."

In his statement, he mayor adds his actions won't prevent citizens from receiving information about how to improve conditions in their neighborhoods.

His office says residents can call 419-936-2020.
