ROSSFORD -- Franciscan artwork and a Franciscan garden were dedicated and blessed today, at the All Saints Catholic Church, in Rossford.
Sister Jane Mary Sorosiak is the artist of the Franciscan artwork. She was commissioned to make two ceramic murals.
One of the murals depicts St. Francis of Assisi, the founder of the Franciscans and St. Clare, the foundress of the Order of the Poor Ladies and one of the first followers of St. Francis of Assisi.
The other mural depicts the words of Dismissal at the end of Mass. It reads, “Go In Peace Glorifying The Lord By Your Life.”
Sr. Jane Mary is an accomplished artist who served for nearly 30 years as an assistant professor for the Department of Art.
During the spring of 2012, All Saints took the first steps toward the establishment of a permanent All Saints Franciscan Garden.
The Pastor of All Saints, Father Kent Kaufman said, "We are blessed with 17 acres here on Lime City Road, we certainly had room to do it."
The All Saints Garden will offer a multitude of benefits for the school and parish community. It will provide fresh produce "…to share with our folks coming to the food pantry," said Father Kaufman.
In the garden, raised beds were constructed by the students, former students, teachers, school parents and parishioners. The garden team coordinated the use of rain water and highly sustainable materials for the construction of the permanent garden.
