TOLEDO -- The suspects who attempted to rob two Toledo businesses with weapons on the same day are still on the loose.
According to the police report, the first incident took place around 9:15 a.m. on Aug. 4 at Secor Carryout on Dorr Street. A man wielding a knife entered the carryout and demanded money from the clerk at the cash register.
But after giving over the cash, the clerk pulled a gun out from under the counter and told the suspect to drop the money and leave the store.
The suspect ran out of the carryout, dropped the money in the parking lot and escaped in a gray colored Chrysler SUV. He is described as a black male, 6'2" and 250 pounds wearing a gray jacket, yellow shirt and khaki pants.
Just a few hours later in a separate incident on Lewis Avenue, a man armed with a gun told the clerk at Sun Goddess tanning salon to open her drawer and give him the money. According to the police report, the man lifted his shirt and revealed the handgun in his waistband.
The clerk refused to give him money and as she reached to call for help, the suspect grabbed the phone behind the counter with a plastic bag and threw it on the ground. The man left without any money, according to the report.
The suspect is described as a black male, 25-30 years old and 6'1" with facial hair.
Both suspects are not believed to be associated with each other. Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to contact Crime Stopper at (419) 255-1111.
