Every parents' nightmare came true when a 5-year-old brought a handgun to a Toledo day care on Monday.

According to published reports, the boy told teachers at My First Days Day Care that he found the gun while playing outside his apartment complex the night before. The boy reportedly thought the gun was a cigarette lighter and took it to school to show his friends.

Administrators checked the gun and found it unloaded.

At this point, the mother could face charges, but police say it is unlikely. Authorities took the gun for safe keeping in the Toledo police property room.
