PHILADELPHIA -- Potty training is not an easy or fun process for any parent.   And for one Philadelphia mother its turned into a legal battle.

Caroline Robboy says she was in a clothing store with her 9-year-old and 2-year-old sons when they needed to use the restroom.

The store said they couldn't use their restroom so after they left the store, Caroline's youngest son, Nathaniel ran to a traffic light and took matters into his own hands.  But as she was trying to get her son to stop, a police officer showed up.

"And so I tell him to go over To a grassy patch and make pee and next thing You know I have an officer giving me a police ticket for public urination" Caroline said.  "He said I'm doing this for your own protection, because God forbid there had been some pervert out there looking at my son!"

The officer gave her a $50 ticket and wrote on it that she told her son to go in the street.  But she says it was a simple accident and plans to fight the ticket.

"It's not about the $50! It's not The issue for me! I want a place that feels friendly to me that my children will feel safe and have positive experiences with police officers!"
