TOLEDO -- A four-vehicle crash on I-475 left a highway patrol trooper injured on Sunday evening.

Sgt. Shane Johnson was investigating a one vehicle crash involving a 1995 Dodge minivan driven by Rose Grant, 22, when an SUV driven by 28-year-old Julius Simmons struck the patrol car and van.

The patrol car was then struck again by a Toyota Corolla driven by Trang Nguyen, 21.

Sgt. Johnson was transported by Promedica Life Squad to Toledo Hospital, where he was treated and released. Nguyen and Simmons refused treatment at the scene. Grant was not injured.

Nguyen was cited for operating under the influence of alcohol and failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead. Simmons was also cited for OVI, failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead and failure to wear his seat belt.
