According to National Energy Secretary Stephen Chu the Obama administration is "not interested in lowering gas prices" as they approach $5/gal.  Testifying in front of a congressional subcommittee, Chu stuck to a philosophy he's trumpeted in the past, namely, that high gas prices provide an incentive for alternative energy technology.

This deliberate government policy seemingly flies in the face of a president claiming to have the back of the middle class.  For more on this incredible admission check out the article in Yahoo News

What I'd really like is to know what you think/how you feel... should we embrace higher gas prices to wean us of our reliance on oil?  Are high gas prices a good thing for you and your family?  Will it influence your vote in November?  Sound off...
