CLEVELAND (AP) -- Nuns from Ohio are part of an effort to keep the Super Bowl from becoming a big event for the sex trade.

WKYC-TV reports members of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Cleveland have helped contact scores of hotels within a 50-mile radius of Indianapolis.

The nuns have asked the hotels to be alert for possible sex trafficking and take steps to stop it.

Congregation president Sister Nancy Conway says if one woman is saved at Sunday's Super Bowl, the work will be worth it.

Officials have said that about 1,000 American-born children are forced into the sex trade each year in Ohio alone.
