Toledo Police investigate the death of a person found shot and killed at the scene of an accident

SOUTH TOLEDO -- Toledo 911 dispatchers say an investigation into a deadly shooting, on Wednesday night, began with a report of a hit and run accident at the intersection of Broadway and Prouty.
When authorities arrived at the scene, shortly before 8:00 p.m., they learned there was a person at the scene of the crash who had been shot.
Officials say that victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to one published report, officers said "the driver of the car was southbound on Broadway, hit a curb, smashed into a fire hydrant, and crashed into a building on Prouty Avenue."
As of 11:30 p.m., neither investigators or the coroner had released any information on the victim.
It is also unclear if any other people were involved in the initial accident that brought police to the scene.
