TOLEDO - Some Huntington Bank employees weren't working with money on Wednesday but were handling some valuable assets.
Workers were distributing and sorting 1,200 donated backpacks that will benefit young students in Lucas County.
The bank, which is headquartered in Ohio, set up shop at the Seagate Convention Center to organize the donated backpacks.
Each of the backpacks are full of the basic necessities for kids going back to class this fall.
"Huntington partnered with the United Way to help us identify agencies that work with at risk children and they will be delivering the backpacks directly to children in need," said Shannon Loar-Tenney of Huntington Bank.
The 1,200 backpacks being distributed in Lucas County are part of 3,000 being given to children in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
The East Toledo Family Center, Friendly Center, Frederick Douglass Community Association, YWCA, Kinship Navigator Program (Area Office on Aging), Providence Center, Toledo CDC, Canaan Outreach, Learning Club of Toledo are among the local agencies that will distribute the backpacks.
