CLYDE -- Families affected by the Clyde Cancer Cluster are hiring a private company to test several areas in Sandusky County.

The private environmental testing firm will begin work this week and will be looking at everything from dust in attics to sludge from a water reservoir.

Last year, the EPA found high levels of a chemical believed to cause cancer at the old Whirlpool Park.

Since 1996, 35 children have been diagnosed and three have died from cancer in a 12-mile wide circle just south of Lake Erie.
