FORT KNOX, KY. -- The local wing of the Ohio Air National Guard is mourning the tragic loss of one of their own.
According to the Swanton-based 180th Fighter Wing, Staff Sgt. Krista Meeks-Jones, and her husband, Christopher, were found dead inside their residence at the Fort Knox Army Post in the early morning hours of Friday, Feb. 22.
Meeks-Jones lived at the Fort Knox base with her husband, an Army Specialist, and their two children.
A spokesman for the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID) said the incident appears to have been the result of a domestic dispute. Both were found with gunshot wounds.
The couple's children were inside the home at the time, but were not harmed.
Sgt. Meeks-Jones, who is listed on Facebook as being a 2008 graduate of Anthony Wayne High School, had been assigned to the 180th Fighter Wing's Communications Flight as a knowledge operations journeyman since July 2007.
The couple's two young children have been placed in foster care pending permanent placement.
The incident remains under investigation by the CID.
