TOLEDO -- A neglected dog, believed to be around 9-years-old, is now resting comfortably after undergoing surgery to remove both of his severely infected eyes.
"Stevie" is now in the care of the Lucas County Dog Warden, but soon will go to a foster home to continue his recovery.
The Shih Tzu was found wandering on Magnolia Street, last Saturday, but so far no one has come forward to claim him.
Officials say once he is healed, Stevie will need a new home.
They are looking for someone who is in a living space that doesn't change often so that "Stevie" will be able to memorize his surroundings.
The surgeries to remove both of his eyes, and cutting of his extremely long nails, we made possible by "Cutie's Fund".
"Cutie's Fund is an on-going fund that we use to treat all kinds of different dogs that have issues like Stevie. We want to keep those donations rolling so we can continue to help these kinds of dogs," Lucas County Dog Warden Julie Lyle said.
Donations to Cutie's Fund can be made online or by mailing a check to the Lucas County Dog Warden, 410 S. Erie Street, Toledo, Ohio 43604.
