Police: Runaway robber brandished knife at female cashier

LASALLE TOWNSHIP -- Monroe County authorities are on the hunt for a robber who used a knife to steal from Fred's Cash and Carry on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the white male suspect entered the store on South Telegraph Road brandishing a large knife just before 1 p.m. The man moved behind the service counter and ordered the female cashier to give him money. He grabbed the cash and fled on foot to a vehicle parked facing north on the west side of Telegraph Road.

The suspect reportedly entered the passenger side of the vehicle, indicating to police that the getaway car was occupied by at least one additional person.

The robber is described as 5'10" to 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark colored coat and pants, stocking cap, dark colored gloves and round sunglasses. The getaway car was described as a dark colored PT Crusier with unknown registration.
