A new report by the U.S. Census Bureau finds women have a greater chance of living to 100 years old or longer.

The agency looked at both race and ethnicity and found the majority of centenarians were whites who lived in urban areas.

Of the 53,364 Americans age 100 and older, 80 percent are women.

"For every 100 centenarian females, there were only 20.7 centenarian males," Census researchers wrote, according to Reuters.

The findings are based on the 2010 Census.
