Authorities are asking for the public's help to catch the suspects behind a string of church break-ins in Fulton County and surrounding Michigan counties.

According to the Lenawee County Sheriff's Department, the crime spree began on Aug. 12 at three churches Hillsdale and Addison, Mich. In the following days, churches in Brooklyn, Manitou Beach and Adrian reported break-ins and missing money.

A metal can containing $402 for bible school children was taken from an Addison church. The Wauseon Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints reported a missing projector worth $1,500.

In total, Lenawee County authorities report 11 church break-ins in Lenawee, two in Hillsdale, five in Livingston, three in Genesee, eight in Monroe, three in St. Clair, nine in Washtenaw and six in Fulton counties.

In almost all of the cases, the suspects ransacked the office areas of the churches and opened drawers and filing cabinets looking for items to steal. They entered the church by prying open doors and windows.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at (517) 266-6161 or (877) 276-8477. Any tips that lead to the arrest of the responsible suspect(s) will earn the caller a cash reward.
