TOLEDO -- Black Friday and Cyber Monday will be two of the biggest shopping days of the year. Small Business Saturday is giving consumers the chance to shop locally and score some big deals.

Holiday shoppers in downtown, Toledo were able to get up to 40 percent off designer brands at the specialty women's clothing boutiques, Sophia Lustig and Sophie's Sister. Sophia Lustig has been in business for 75 years and its sister store has been operating for nine years. The boutique's fourth Owner, Meredith Sherman, is happy to receive the support.

Sherman described, "We've had four generations of clients. From the great grandmother, to the grandmother, the mother, and now the daughter, shopping with us."

Employees at Sophie's Sister were just as elated to have a day dedicated to benefiting loyal customers.

"We love it, I think it's the greatest thing ever," said Manager Susan Wilson. "We have many people that want to support local, and like small businesses."

Amjad Doumani owns B-Bop Records, a music store that specializes in the sale of new and used vinyl, cd's, dvd's, books, magazines, and pop culture memorabilia. Doumani opened the original store in 1987 on Reynolds Road, later moving to Dorr Street. In 1994, due to a change in the nature of the business, Doumani decided to close and retail exclusively through mail-order. Last year, B-Bop records moved into Third Space, a community center that Doumani says "mixes the arts with activism." Third Space invites community members to free WIFI, refreshments, political activities, and live music events.

Many in the community frequent local restaurants and bars that have become staples in the neighborhood. Blarney's Irish Pub has sat next to Fifth Third Field and the Huntington Center for about six years.

"It's a great community, downtown has been great," said owner, Ed Beczynski. "All the revitalizing of downtown, it's been great to be a part of that."

Toledo is also home to locally-owned barber shops, delis, sporting goods stores, bakeries, and more.
