Some local organizations are coming to the rescue of a local religious institution that recently became the victim of hate crime.

Now, that story is turning into one of love and compassion, with the outpouring of donations.

The fire at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo in September didn't just damage the Mosque, it also destroyed the private school library used by children from kindergarten through fourth grade.

Monday, hundreds of books were presented by Books 4 Buddies and the Lucas County Sheriff's deputies to the Islamic School's students at Owens Community College. Books 4 Buddies participants focus on increasing youth literacy by collecting and gently used reading material.

Islamic School students got their hands on classics like 'The Magic School Bus' and 'Thomas the Tank Engine.'

Leaders at the school hope the gift will help their young students understand the love and support from the community.
