Cooper Tire may be sold to company in India

FINDLAY -- Findlay based Cooper Tire could soon be sold to an Indian tire manufacturer.

The Economic Times reported today that Apollo Tyres is working to buy a controlling stake in Cooper Tire for between $600 million to $800 million.

According to Forbes the acquisition attempt is not only unsolicitated it might be hostile.

Cooper Tire is the fourth largest tire maker in North America and the 10th largest in the world.

The company is not commenting on the Economic Times report.
