Great Lakes Museum coming to dowtown

TOLEDO -- A new museum honoring the Great Lakes is coming to the downtown Marina District.
The Great Lakes Historical Society along with city and state officials will break ground, today, on the new National Museum of the Great Lakes.
The museum will include nearly 10,000 feet of exhibit space, a maritime park and will be the new home for the Col. James M Schoonmaker.
The Great Lakes museum is funded by private fundraising and approximately $6-million in grants to the City of Toledo from the Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission.
The Toledo Maritime Center will house the new museum and will be lease from the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority for $1 per year.
