TOLEDO -- A death has been reported after an alleged assault at the Toledo Correctional Institution.
According to the Toledo Blade, inmate Brad Hamlin, 24, was found inside another inmate’s cell at the facility on Thursday. Lucas County deputy coroner, Dr. Diane Barnett, says the death has been ruled a homicide as a result of strangulation. Hamlin suffered injuries to his arms and legs.
Hamlin was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead Friday. He was three months into a four year sentence after being convicted in Cuyahoga County on charges of breaking and entering, burglarly, and theft. He had entered the Toledo prison on June 15.
The death remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. No suspects have been named in the homicide.
