Before you head to McDonald's or Burger King to get your children a kid's meal, listen up: Some sliced apples sold at both restaurants are part of a recall.

They may have been contaminated with listeria before being shipped all over the country. Ready PAC has recalled nearly 300,000 cases and 300,000 individually packaged items sent to 36 states including Ohio, Michigan and Washington D.C.

Listeria can cause potentially serious or life-threatening illness accompanied by fever, nausea or diarrhea.
