MONROE TWP. -- Monroe County authorities caught a masked female thief and her alleged accomplice after an armed robbery at Stop and Run convenience store on Tuesday night.
According to the police report, the masked woman entered the Stop and Shop at 2062 South Custer Road, approached the cashier with a handgun and demanded money. The woman tucked the gun into her waistband as she fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Monroe County deputy sheriffs began an area search and canvass and discovered the suspect at a nearby public park, where she got into an older model green Ford Thunderbird or Mercury Cougar driven by an unknown white female.
Deputy sheriffs and an aviation unit converged on the area and took both women to the Monroe County jail on charges of armed robbery. The suspect vehicle and other evidence were recovered as well as the stolen currency.
