Jobless rates fall in Northwest Ohio

TOLEDO -- Here's something we haven't heard in a while.  Unemployment rates for all Northwest Ohio counties have dropped from April to May.

The biggest declines came in Fulton and Ottawa Counties.

According to The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services, numbers released Tuesday show Toledo's unemployment rate fell to 8.5% last month, down from 8.9% in April.

Lucas County's jobless rate is now under 8%.

In Wood County the rate fell from 7.3% in April to 7.1% in May.

Ottawa County's unemployment rate plunged from 10.1% in April to 7.8% in May.

Fulton County's jobless rate fell a whole percentage point from April to May.
