Free tire recycling for Lucas Co. residents

TOLEDO -- Drop off your used tires at the Hoffman Road Landfill for a recycling event this Saturday.

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., all Lucas County residents can bring up to 10 used tires on or off the rim to be recycled. The event will end early if the tire trailer fill up before 2 p.m.

No buesinesses will be permitted to dispose of tires at this event as the purpose of the grant was to offer residents a free tire disposal option. Year round tire recylcing is available through several local retailres for a fee per tire.

The Lucas County Solid Waste Management District is funding the event with a $10,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
