Ohio State Highway Patrol, out of Bowling Green, is investigating a fatal three-vehicle accident that shut down traffic for 5 hours on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash took place just after 4 p.m. along U.S. Route 6 at Rudolph Road, near Sand Ridge Road, in Plain Township.

Authorities say 58-year-old Thomas Joseph, of Toledo, was killed in the accident.

Investigators believe that Joseph was traveling westbound and was trying to pass another vehicle when he collided head-on with a semi-truck heading eastbound.

43-year-old Nickolas Horvath of Bellevue and 67-year-old Helen Missildine of Hillsboro, the other drivers involved in the crash, were taken to the Wood County Hospital but did not have any life-threatening injuries.
