FirstEnergy Corp. will announce Thursday a delay on closing three Ohio coal-burning plants in order to make upgrades to transmission lines.
The move comes after the company that oversees the power grid in Ohio decided that closing the plants would cause problems during times of high demand for electricity.
In January, FirstEnergy announced they would close six older coal-fired power plants in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Maryland in September because of environmental regulations.
The plants in Cleveland, Eastlake and Astabula will now remain open until 2015.
