TOLEDO -- Waite High School and Garfield Elementary School in east Toledo were locked down while police search for home invasion suspects in the area.

According to Patty Mazur, spokesperson for Toledo Public Schools, TPS was advised by police at 10:15 that two suspects from a burglary or home invasion were spotted running toward Waite and Garfield schools which are situated close to each other.

The schools remained on lockdown until approximately 10:45 AM when Toledo police advised TPS officials it was safe to open the schools.

A Toledo police spokesman said there was a home invasion that took place at 187 E. Broadway at approximately 9:30 AM. There were no injuries at that scene. The suspects remain at large.
