FLINT, MICH. -- We have an update on the Michigan teen cancer survivor who was suspended from school for growing his hair long to donate to cancer victims.

Officials at the school that suspended J.T. Gaskins, says he's switching to a new school.

Madison Academy said the 17-year-old's hair violated the charter school's policy that hair should not be longer than a shirt's collar, off the ears and out of the eyes.

Gaskins says he wants to donate his long locks to Locks of Love which makes wigs for cancer kids who've lost their hair.

The school says it would have taken him back if he wore his hair in a bun.

His mother says that was unfair and unreasonable and she's transferring him to a public school.

If you were this boy's parents how would you have handled the situation?  Do you agree with the mom's decision to switch schools?  How about the school's offer?  Post your comments below.
