FLINT -- A Flint-area teenager who beat leukemia has been suspended from school over his long hair.

J.T. Gaskins was growing his hair out to donate to Locks of Love which turns donated hair into wigs for cancer patients.

But the Madison Academy School Board is standing by its policy on hair which must be off the collar, off the ears and out of the eyes.

Gaskins has missed 5 and a half days. His mother feels the school should compromise.
