KALKASKA, MICH. (AP) -- Organizers of a sled dog race in the northern Lower Peninsula say a shortage of snow has led them postpone the event until March.
The Kalkaska Winterfest sled dog race originally was planned for Jan. 14-15.
Organizers tell TV stations WWTV/WWUP that the race now will take place March 3-4. A craft show and dog pull that accompany the
race also be held in March.
The event's Facebook page says with only 3 inches of snow on the ground and two weeks to go, the conditions weren't ready for the
race. Organizers say they hope to have enough of a snowpack by March.
