TOLEDO -- Facebook account holders have been inundated with obscene images and pornographic images since the website was hacked several weeks ago. Millions of Facebook account holders report that for weeks images depicting cruelty to animals and sexually graphic images have popped up on their profile page. University of Toledo freshman Kyair'a Nixon of Cincinnati says she and all her roomates have been victims of the pornographic spam.  "I logged onto to my account and there were these inappropriate images of women being degraded, men and Jesus and the one about Jesus really killed me because that's disrespectful," Ms. Nixon said.

Facebook released a statement saying: "We have eliminated most of the spam caused by this attack. We are now working to improve our systems to better defend against similar attacks in the future."

Facebook offers tips to avoid being hacked.  First, never copy an unknown code or address. Second, always use an up to date browser. And third, report suspicious links, especially those of a sexual nature immediately to Facebook.

If you have already been victimized try the following.  First, change your password.  Second, remove any unwanted Facebook apps.  And third, run a virus scan on your entire system.
