WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) -- Organizers have set a new date in October for the dedication of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington. Executive Architect Ed Jackson says the ceremony will take place on October 16. The dedication had been planned for August 28 to coincide with the 48th anniversary of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech. However the event was cancelled due to Hurricane Irene. President Barack Obama had been scheduled to speak and upwards of 250,000 people were expected to be on hand. When the event was postponed, organizers said they wanted to coordinate the rescheduled date with the White House to ensure President Obama's participation.
