After months of debate in Toledo, it now appears, more than ever that Libbey High School's fate lies with the wrecking ball. The city of Toledo has told Toledo Public Schools that it will not go forward with the purchase of parts of the school's campus.
The city says that after assessing the cost of renovating the infrastructure of the Libbey fieldhouse and skills center, the city will not be able to go forward with the project. School Board President Bob Vasquez says at this point, the board has no other alternative than to go forward with its original plan to demolish the building.
Libbey High School was shut down at the end of the 2009-2010 school year due to budget cuts.
